New York Giants vs. Dallas Cowboys: Week 13 Preview and Predictions

This Thanksgiving Day matchup pits two teams trending in opposite directions. The Giants are playing for pride and development after a disappointing season, while the Cowboys are riding high on a Week 12 win to keep faint playoff hopes alive. Dallas will have the advantage of home-field momentum on Thanksgiving, a stage where they have struggled recently but historically performed well against their NFC East foes.

New York Giants vs. Dallas Cowboys

Week 12 Recap

The Giants continued their struggles in Week 12, falling 30-7 to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Quarterback Tommy DeVito was thrust into the starting role following Daniel Jones' release, managed 189 passing yards but was sacked four times and received little support from the running game. Dallas secured a morale-boosting 34-26 victory over Washington, led by quarterback Cooper Rush, who had an efficient performance with 247 passing yards and 2 touchdowns, and standout special teams contributions, including KaVontae Turpin’s electric 99-yard kickoff return touchdown.

Offensive Strengths

New York Giants

Rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers has been a bright spot, leading the team with 671 receiving yards this season. Running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. has flashed potential with 587 rushing yards this season. With Tommy DeVito in the lineup, I would expect the Giants to lean on their run game going forward, which currently ranks 19th in the NFL.

Dallas Cowboys

CeeDee Lamb has been a great weapon, leading the air attack for Dallas with 77 catches and 841 receiving yards this season. Cooper Rush has proven capable of managing the offense, utilizing weapons like tight end Luke Schoonmaker and wideout Jalen Tolbert, who both scored last week.

Defensive Outlook

New York Giants

Linebacker Bobby Okereke and safety Tyler Nubin anchor a defense that's struggled this season, especially affecting the passer in their last few games. As a team, they have only sacked the quarterback once in the last three games. They need the pass rush to step up to rattle Cooper Rush, who has played well in Dak Prescott's absence.

Dallas Cowboys

Led by star pass rusher Micah Parsons, who recorded two sacks last week, Dallas’ defense can disrupt DeVito and force turnovers. Cornerbacks Josh Butler and Israel Mukuamu, who both snagged interceptions last week, will look to capitalize on the young quarterback’s mistakes.

Conclusion and Prediction

Both teams have struggled this season and head coaches Mike McCarthy and Brian Daboll have their jobs to play for. Dallas has the edge in this matchup with momentum and a home crowd on Thanksgiving. I expect a hard-fought game that might be ugly towards the end. The Cowboys have won seven straight against the Giants and I believe that streak will continue.

JY Official Prediction: Dallas 31, NYG 13
