RIP Johnny Max Bledsoe

July 20, 1958 — December 1, 2024

Johnny Max Bledsoe was born on July 20, 1958, in McKinney, Texas to Calvin and Nancy Bledsoe. He passed away on December 1, 2024, embraced by the love of his wife and three daughters. A 1976 graduate of Frisco High School, he furthered his education at East Texas State University in Commerce, earning a Bachelor of Science in Education, and later a master's degree, during which he met his wife, Brenda.

From a young age, Max felt a divine calling to coaching, a path solidified by his mentor, Coach Larry Tidwell, who offered him his first coaching position at Frisco Middle School upon his graduation in December 1979. Max dedicated 30 years to coaching various sports in Frisco, including football, baseball, basketball, cross country, and softball. He notably founded and led the Girl's Softball program at Frisco High School for 15 years, achieving district accolades and a pinnacle 4A State Championship in 2002—the first for any Frisco team. His exceptional contributions were recognized with multiple coaching awards, and in 2024, he was honored with the Generations of Excellence Award from Frisco ISD and his 2002 team was inducted into the Frisco ISD Inaugural Athlete Hall of Honor.

Survived by his wife Brenda of 44 years; daughters Alisha Sandifer (Shawn), Amy Mears (Steven), and Whitney King (Kyle); and eight grandchildren. He is also mourned by his sister Liz Pack (Kinny), and brothers Joe (Kathy) and Kip (Carla) Bledsoe.

A devoted family man, third-generation member and ordained deacon of the First Baptist Church of Frisco, and an avid golfer, Max was consistently described as exceptionally kind-hearted by all who knew him.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 6, 2024, at the First Baptist Church of Frisco, 7901 Main Street, Frisco, Texas, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. His funeral service is scheduled for the following day at the same location, beginning at 11:00 AM with interment at Rowlett Cemetery in Plano, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Max’s memory to the Frisco Education Foundation, the Prosper Education Foundation, or the Greater Frisco FCA.
